TRAFFIC CONTROL TECHNICIAN - UTILITY
Job Summary:
The Traffic Control Technician must be able to perform responsibilities related to temporary traffic control operation for the road, bridge, and highway construction projects. Must have knowledge of work zone standards, installation and removal procedures. Will perform a wide range of physical labor tasks in support of workers on the highway construction site. Prior ATSSA TCT certification preferred but not required.
Reports to: Traffic Control Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installation of temporary traffic control per the Texas MUTCD on multi-lane highways.
- Ability to operate TMA, arrowboards, and message boards.
Maintain Safety Standards:
- Ensure that all work is completed in a safe and secure manner and comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Able to operate hand tools and power tools of all types.
- Able to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Help to maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Perform other related and non-related duties as assigned.
- Regular and timely attendance.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
- At least 2 years of relevant traffic control experience.
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check with minimal infractions.
- Willing and able to pass a physical examination.
- Willing and able to pass drug and alcohol screenings.
- Must be able to travel and work overtime, weekends and nights as needed and out of town.
- Must always wear all proper PPE require in the field.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of prior experience preferred.
- Prior ATSSA TCT certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to lift and carry 80 LBS, and push and or pull/ up to 50 LBS at all times.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to noise, fumes, vibrations, and heights.
- Exposure to prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and climbing.
- Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
